How does Botox work?

What can I expect during a Botox treatment?

Botox treatments are quick and relatively painless, requiring no anesthesia or recovery time. Many individuals opt for Botox during their lunch breaks and resume their daily activities immediately after the appointment. Your first appointment would be about 30 minutes in length and include a consult where we go over your goals, medical history, budget, and come up with a plan tailored to you. There is never any pressure to proceed with treatment the same day but if time allows we are happy to treat as well.

A little. Botox is injected with very small needles so it does sting a bit, however nothing like a vaccination or blood draw. The injections are comparable to a mosquito bite and any pain at the site is gone within a few seconds. However, if you’re really nervous we can use ice or numbing cream to make you more comfortable.

Is Botox Safe?

Yes!! It has been approved in Canada for over twenty years and is one of the most tested pharmaceuticals on the planet. More than 7 million injections are performed each year. With that being said, a major factor in the safety of treatment is that it is performed by a medical professional in a medical office where proper protocols are in place.

When Will I Start Noticing Results?

Although individual experiences may vary, most patients begin to observe the effects of Botox within 3-5 days following treatment. In some cases, it may take up to 2 weeks to fully appreciate the final outcome. Therefore it is important to note that some areas may show results before others and it is important to wait the full 14 days before coming in for a follow up.

How Long Will Botox Results Last?

On average, the results of Botox persist for approximately 3-5 months from the injection date. Over time, the body metabolizes the Botox, leading to a gradual return of muscle movement in the treated area. For extended results, periodic maintenance treatments every 3-4 months are recommended.
